Being a professional artist since 1971, I was born in1953 into an artistic family, being greatly influenced by my older brother Dean Millman. Dean was reaching National proportions and recognition before passing away from Leukemia at the early age of 28. Along with Dean, others that influenced me were my teachers at BYU, from1974-1981, and other professonal artists. In 1991 I studied under reknown artist Frank Covino for the next 16 years, being taught the Italian Renaissance method of painting by using a grey underpainting and applying color after. This is called the indirect method of painting using a controlled palette with 10 values to have the abilitiy to create the illusion of 3 dimension.
I like to paint all subject matter and have used many mediums over the past years, but oils are my first choice now, which allows me to create museum quality pieces of work that will last for centuries. With the knowledge I have gained, I feel it is my mission, to teach and share with others. I always look for new adult students, from beginners to professionals, that would like to be taken to another level or more of learning.
Art has been my passion since I could hold a pencil at a very early age. Later in my journey of life I have been inspired to paint subjects I feel strongly about. Having served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1975-1977, my testimony of Jesus Christ has grown. Two paintings that have been completed, is one of the Savior, "Prince of Peace", and the Nativity, "For unto Us a Child is Born...", purchased by the LDS Church. It is my mission, and anyone else that would like to become part of that mission, to share my painting of Christ with my story on back, with those who need comfort, healing and to increase faith. Already this image can be found in many parts of the world, through the efforts of missionaries and others willing to share.
I am a wife and mother of three older daughters, and currently living in Santaquin since 1998. With my love of nature, people and beauty, art has been a great fullfillment in my life. I truly feel blessed to have been given this gift to share with others.
